The words from the classic hymn “Cleanse Me” by J. Edwin Orr have become my own prayer lately. Orr, the great revival theologian and preacher, wrote the words of this hymn in 1936 and they have been used in several revivals.
Based on Psalm 139:24 where the Scripture states we ought to ask the Spirit of God to search out any unknown sin in us, a verse states “O Holy Ghost, Revival comes from Thee; Send a revival,Start the work in me.”
This is why we begin each month with prayer that we might be touched for revival, then we pray for other churches, our community, and finally missions.
The most important part of our prayers ought to be confidence in God that He will enact, implement and fulfill His Word in his own time!
